Kylie Rene Cragun

She's finally here!! And we love her to pieces. We thought she was going to come early, we didn't know how early but just early. So as the due date got closer and closer we (and really mostly me) got more and more anxious for her to come. At my 36 week appointment Kylie had turned sideways, she was head down before. The doctor said if she didn't turn by my next appointment the following week we could try a version, which is the doctor manually turning her from the outside. I was totally all for that, otherwise I'd have a C-Section. Later that day I had a chiropractic appointment and they did lots of muscle work trying to get everything loose and make as much room as possible for her to turn. That evening I thought I felt her little bum up top by my ribs like it should be. I was so relieved she had turned. When I went to my appointment the next week I found out she had turned the wrong way and was head up bottom down - what I thought was her bottom was actually her head.
The next day Collin and I went to the hospital for the doctor to attempt a version. There's risks with turning the baby and that's why it needs to be done in the hospital. It could start labor, break your water, or put the baby in distress which would require an emergency C-Section. My mom and sister both had successful versions so I was feeling pretty good that morning and Collin had given me a blessing the night before which definitely helped. (And a quick side note - Collin and I were 99.99% sure on Kylie's name. We both felt very strongly that that was her name even before we knew she was a girl. In the blessing, Collin called her Kylie. I asked him afterwards if he realized he had said it. He said Kylie's name had come to his mind to say, but hesitated a little just because it wasn't set in stone. But then realized that that's her name and continued on with the blessing calling her by Kylie. We for sure knew after that that her name was Kylie.) When they did the ultrasound before the version to confirm she was head up, her head was slightly to the opposite side it was the week before. She apparently had tons of room in there. When then got taken to triage to answer all the silly questions. Dr. Naylor came in to turn her around 10:00. A midwife was supposed to come in as well just for the extra hands to keep Kylie in place when Dr. Naylor needed to move and reposition his. It was pretty uncomfortable and pretty crazy to feel her turning. His hands had to be in so deep in order to grip her. The nurses kept saying I was doing awesome, but really it was just uncomfortable. When Kylie's head was by my hip it was a little painful - enough to make me grimace - but that was all. And then just like that her head was down before the midwife ever even made it in the room. It took maybe 5 minutes. I was so grateful Kylie cooperated. We had to hang around for about an hour after that though for the doctors to monitor her heartrate to make sure she was fine, which she was. Collin and I were both slightly hoping my water would break so she would come... They had me wear a stomach brace to help hold her in place which was SUPER hot, but Kylie never flipped back up so it was worth it.
While waiting forever to finally go back home. And the Picture on the wall kills us.

As my due date kept getting closer I got more and more impatient. Scott and I were going for walks everyday. I was eating spicy food like crazy. Nothing was working. I was really hoping she would be born Labor Day weekend so Collin wouldn't have to miss school, but as Labor Day came and went I got even more anxious and sad she wasn't here. Ever since I had the version I had Braxton Hicks contractions all the time. With Scott I got tons of them the day before he was born. Since I was having them all the time with Kylie, I would go to bed every night thinking "maybe I'll go into labor tonight" just to wake up in the morning with nothing.T he day before my due date was the worst. All along we thought she'd come early and now it was the day before and she still wasn't here. I was crying and texting my mom about how miserable, hot, and uncomfortable I was. I asked Collin to give me another blessing for comfort. In it I was told to trust in the Lord's timing. Just hearing that was enough to calm and comfort me.
On my due date, September 9, I was just fine and calm. I kept remembering what I was told in the blessing. That night I continued to have Braxton Hicks like I had all along but they were even stronger than before. I woke up at 2 in the morning with contractions. I was timing them and they were a minute in length and happening every 5ish minutes like they tell you. I even got up and moved around (they tell you to change what you're doing to make sure they keep up) and I was still having them. I called the doctor to let them know, called our friends who were going to watch Scott for us, and got ready to go to the hospital. They were semi-painful but I was afraid if I stayed at home they would stop like they had done a few days before. I was hoping if I was at the hospital and they stopped they would induce me to help them start again since it was past my due date. We dropped Scott off at our friend's house and got to the hospital around 6. My contractions weren't as strong and they had spread out. I was dilated to a 4 (I was a 3 at my appointment earlier that week). They had me walk the halls to see if that would kick start them again, which it did and they were painful, but as soon as I would lay back down and they'd start monitoring them again they'd slow down. It was super irritating. When Dr. Naylor got to the hospital at about 8:30 he suggested breaking my water to see if that would help. They said they would let the anesthesiologist know I wanted an epidural, but in my mind I wanted to wait longer cause the contractions were still bearable. My water was broken at about 9:30 and immediately my contractions were super strong and very painful. I was so grateful they let the anesthesiologist know I was ready cause about half an hour after that my epidural was in place. I was dilated to a 5. After they had me turn to my side the second time (around 11:45) I started feeling pressure and felt like Kylie was pretty low. I told Collin to tell the doctor I was feeling pressure but not quite ready to push. The nurse came in and checked how Kylie was looking and said we needed to call Dr. Naylor in. I was a 10 and Kylie was ready. Dr. Naylor came in and had me do a little push to see how Kylie was moving and as soon as I started he immediately told me to stop or else she was going to be out.
They got everything all ready and my nurse and the nursery nurse in my room. Collin was going to "catch" her. With Scott, Collin wanted to help catch him as well but the doctor pretty much did everything. Collin basically just grabbed Scott once he was almost fully out and handed him to me. This time, Dr. Naylor had Collin do pretty much everything. Dr. Naylor was off to the side giving him directions on what to do and where to place his hands, but that was about it. I started pushing and gave one push before her head was out. The cord was loose around her neck so I had to stop for them to get that off and then I pushed again and she was out. It only took about 5 minutes this time. Kylie Rene (my mom's middle name) was born at 12:33 and weighed 8lb 1oz at 19 in. and was beautiful! She had lots of dark hair, especially in back. It's slightly down her neck in the back even!  My recovery this time around was so much better. When they had me stand a few hours later to shower and move me to postpartum I was fine. With Scott I almost fainted and had no energy. Having babies in the middle of the day is so much easier than the middle of the night.
Collin and I enjoyed our baby girl for several hours before Collin went and got Scott. He loved her and was super intrigued with her toes and eyes. He thought it was cool she had them too. Anytime she'd make a noise he would look at her and make it too. Collin and Scott slept at home that night and came back first thing the next morning. Having Scott at the hospital with us was a little stressful trying to keep him quiet and entertained. We were hoping to be discharged that day but were just waiting for the 24 hours (there are tests they do on the baby at 24 hours) to be done and the nurse to say I could go. Collin and Scott ended up going home around 1 that afternoon so Scott could take a nap. Right after they left the nurse came in and said I was good to go home. So Collin and Scott came back to bring us home. We were home within 25 hours of Kylie being born and it was so wonderful!
Collin's parents, Scott and Mitzi, came into town later that day and were here for a week and a half. My mom came a few days after they left and was here for a few days as well. We were so grateful they could come out here and help and meet and cuddle Kylie.
Scott still loves his baby sister, sometimes a little too much. He likes to give her hugs, share his cars and books, and wants to pick her up if she's crying. We all love her tons and think she's absolutely beautiful! We love having a little baby in our home and they sweet spirit they bring with them.
40 Weeks exactly, the night before we went to the hospital

After the epidural just waiting, this was about an hour before she was born

Scott meeting his sister and being close to her for the first time

He was definitely needing some attention from me.

Right before going home

For about the first 2 weeks the first thing Scott would do in the morning was come to our room and lay and look at his sister. I absolutely loved it!!

It looks like a bald spot above her ear, but it's actually a patch of blonde hair. I'm curious to see what her hair does when she gets older.
