Scott Update

Since I'm about a year behind on our blog I decided to do an update for each child - so we'll start with Scott. Man has this little boy grown and learned tons in the last year. Let's tell the year with LOTS pictures:
At the very beginning of the year we went down to Arizona for my nephew, Jarom's, baptism. When we were hanging out at the airport waiting for our flight, Scott found this wheelchair and was walking everywhere with it. It seriously was so funny!

When we flew back from AZ, our best friends The Browning's picked us up from the airport and brought us back to their house for some dinner. The kids were downstairs playing while Kristen and I were making cookies and Collin and Josh were talking. Kristen and I realized it was awfully quiet, so she went down to check and the kids. She yelled up to me to come down and bring my phone for pictures. Her two boys and Scott were down playing in her flour!!! I'm so glad we took pictures before attempting to clean it up. Boy was that a disaster. We stuck the kids in the shower but flour+water=dough.

Kristen and I went walking most mornings together. Scott loved having that time to play with his best friends, Tate and Ian. Since it was so cold in winter we would walk at the mall and stop to let the boys play on the little toys.

He's our little goofball. Collin taught him this trick.

Us with Kristen and her boys. Collin and Josh were taking Boards so couldn't be there with us. This was an event where several of the PBS Characters were there for the kids to meet and take pictures with. Scotty loved seeing Curious George and Daniel Tiger.

Despite Scott's face, he loved going to the John Deere Tractor Museum. This time we went with Tate and Ian Browning and Logan and Jake Larsen. Jake is only 4 days younger than Scott which was fun for those boys. All 5 of them got along so well and had tons of fun playing with each other. We'd get together at least once a week for them to play.

This was Easter. At our house, the Easter Bunny leaves a trail of poop (M&Ms) from the bedroom door out to where the Easter basket is. Scott was collecting the poop.

Holidays are now so fun for him. He loved finding all the hidden Easter eggs and basket.

He is definitely our son and LOVES anything sugar, especially ice cream.

I think all kids need to do this at some point.

The elephant is his "baby". For awhile he wanted his baby wrapped up and would get pretty upset if it came undone. Collin wrapped him up like a baby once and he thought it was so cool and funny.

His Aunt Emilee in Arizona game him this shirt. They are HUGE ASU fans. Well, Scott must be related to them cause he loved his "Sparky" shirt and always wanted to wear it.

Collin was going to take Scott on Fathers and Sons this year. Well, that weekend ended up being super cold and we decided instead to put the tent up in the Browning's basement and have a "campout" with them, but only Tate ended up sleeping in the tent with us.

Uncle Taft came to visit us one weekend. Scotty loved his Uncle Taft.
We had so much fun with him!!

Once a week our Stake President's wife would open up their pool for anyone to come swim. Scott is definitely a Cragun and could live in water, so he and I would go just about every week. We'd take a lunch to have a picnic afterwards before going home for naptime. A few times Collin was even able to come with us.

Anytime he falls asleep in the car, this is what he does. He puts his baby on one side and his blanket on the other.

Just like he's definitely a Cragun, he's definitely a Barker and loves homemade ice cream.

Not the greatest picture, but this was his first time up at the Cragun cabin at Bear Lake. Scott definitely has the greatest cousins and he loves them tons!

Having a Chick-fil-a picnic at Chet and Abby's.

He got to go on the boat and tubing with Collin while at Bear Lake. We think he liked it.

Once again, Scott loves his cousins.

And another cousin picture. This summer we spent time in Utah and Arizona for Collin to talk with doctors and find a job. While in Arizona, Scott loved swimming and playing with his cousins there. We went swimming just about everyday.

Fourth of July fireworks. He fell asleep about 5 minutes after the picture.

We were watching a movie one day and this is how he cuddled with me. My pregnant belly made the perfect pillow for him.

We spent lots of time in Nauvoo over the last few years while in Iowa. Duke and Dan are behind us. We went on a wagon ride with them pulling us. Scott loved them.

Scotty is a huge help. He especially loves to help us cook, bake, do dishes, vacuum, pick up, and sweep.

He also loves to play games. This was his favorite for awhile.

In Davenport, there's a huge race called the Bix 7. This was the only time we got to go and watch it. Scott thought it was so fun watching all the people run past, but was really concerned that they were throwing cups of water on the ground. He seriously could not get over all the paper cups.

His new bed. We were moving 2 months after this so didn't bother putting up the bed frame, plus he wasn't very much off the ground if he rolled off. It took about a month before he was fine going to sleep on his own on his bed. It took Kylie being born to be okay with it for some reason. But boy was that month really, really hard for us as parents.

This was obviously before he was good taking a nap on his own. These two are best buds and have so much fun together. I'm glad I got this picture of them.

Mr. Scott loves books. He reads them all throughout the day. I found him like this one day after doing dishes. He had to pull all the books off the shelf before he found the one he wanted to read.

While I was impatiently waiting for Kylie to decide to be born, I spent some time bouncing on a Yoga ball. Scott decided he needed to do that too. So he found his ball and sat and bounced on his. He still does this occasionally.

I loved all the one on one time I got with Scott before Kylie was born. We did lots of fun things. This was a really cool park in Davenport most people call Rocket Park. There's different cool swings, a huge slide, and a big playground close to ground level with a bunch of different things for kids to do. We loved it and really miss all of the parks in Davenport. There was a park every several blocks, they are everywhere there.

Scott's first time meeting Kylie. He loves her so much.

His second birthday. He got this big car tower and lots of cars. He likes to put his hand on the track, load it up with cars, then lift his hand to let all the cars go down. He plays with it daily.

For the first several weeks Kylie was born, Scott would come into our room first thing to find Kylie to lay by her. It was so sweet.

Grampy and Grammy were in Iowa for Scott's 2nd birthday. Scott got to help them make his birthday cupcakes. Grampy taught him one of the finer things in life - how to dip your finger in the container and eat frosting.

This was our most favorite park in Iowa. It was just a few blocks from our house and it was big. It had a duck pond, a big field, water fountain, rose garden, playground, and lots and lots of runners running along the outside of it. We'd go for walks there all the time. Scott loved watching this fountain and seeing all the ducks.

My mom came out to Iowa after Kylie was born as well. The zoo was having free days so of course we had to go. My family loves zoos. Scott thought riding on the train was awesome and told us that
that was his favorite part of the zoo.

This is how he was watching a movie one day.

Collin's school has trick-or-treating every year. They have a bunch of different departments for the kids to walk around to. This year they had pumpkins to decorate and games to play as well.

We were the Daniel Tiger family.

We also went for walks along the Mississippi River all the time. Scott loved seeing the boats, train, and birds all along it. One time we were even there right as a train was going passed which made the walk extra cool for him.

Most of the Cragun family came out to Iowa to help us load up our truck when we moved. The ramp going into the truck was a hot commodity for the kids.

Outside Carthage Jail. I'm so glad Scott was able to come with us to Nauvoo so many times. I hope he remembers it a tiny bit when he's older.

Our last night in Iowa outside our house. We loved it there and had so many great memories there. We miss it tons!

Watching a movie on our car ride back out to Utah.

At Halloween time we got to go to a pumpkin farm with the Cragun family. Buchanan was so good to let Scott ride in that with him. He did a great job keeping Scotty safe.

Aunt Abby helped Scott and Maggie learn to go down the huge slides at that pumpkin patch. It had tons of games and things for the kids to do, along with picking out pumpkins to take home.

Scott thought he was so cool sitting in Kylie's swing. I have to remind him several times a week to not climb in there since he's too big.

We were reading scriptures at Grandpa and Grandma's house one night and Scott was copying Aunt Heidi.

I love this little boy so much!!!

Scott wanted Kylie to sit by him on Grammy's couch.

Grampy with 2 of his sons and a few grandkids. We loved going to the Aerospace Museum with him and Chet's family. Grampy helped restore a lot of the airplanes there. Collin and Chet helped with the P-47 behind them. Scott loves airplanes just like the rest of the Cragun boys.

All our Iowa friends one last time. The Brownings left Iowa in May but came back for graduation in October, right before we left Iowa. It was so fun being with them and the Larsen's again.
Kylie, Jake, Scott, Logan, Tate, Ian, Emily

Scott did a great job with Santa. He was unsure at first, but after a high five and fist bump he decided Santa was nice and okay to talk with.

Temple Square Lights. Scotty loved the Christus. He loved all things Christmas this year. He made it extra great.

How I found him watching a movie. It's like he's a man trapped in a two year old body.

Festival of Lights in Spanish Fork. There were tons of lights for us to drive through and look at.

Christmas Eve with the Craguns

Grampy made him a marble tower. It gets played with several times a day.

Christmas morning. He loved the things Santa brought him and had so much fun opening presents.

This year Christmas was on a Sunday. Here are the kids after church.

Kylie woke up but I was finishing something up so I told Scott to go in and talk with Kylie for a little bit while I finished up. When I went in I found Scott in her bed talking to her.

We went to Vegas for New Years Eve to see Collin's oldest brother, Boone's, family. Scott had a blast swimming and playing with his cousins there.

We definitely love this little boy. He has grown so much this year and we've had a blast watching him. We feel so blessed to be his parents.

A few other things about Scott:
He is all boy. He loves trains, planes, cars, balls, and is full of energy. Just about every night Scott wants to wrestle with Collin.
His talking is getting better and he's starting to string more words together. He does say a few things in his own special way though, some of which are:
-Dom (Dad, although sometimes it sounds like he's swearing. I always get worried when we're around people that don't know he's saying Dad.)
-Pop Pop and Mom Mom (Grandpa and Grandma)
- Do it, Self
He is the only one allowed to touch the microwave and he wants to say all the prayers.
We're working on potty training. He's doing a great job!
He's counted to 10 once. He can get to 8 by himself most of the time. But usually he will say "1, 2, 1, 2, 2, 1, 8, 1, 8, 0, 7"
He has finally started to sing. He does great with ABCs, I Love to See the Temple, Old McDonald, and Hum Your Favorite Hymn.
He loves Kylie and likes to share his toys with her.
He loves to be scared and to scare others. Most nights when I tell Scott Collin drove up he wants to hide to scare him.
Some of his favorite movies are: Big Hero 6, Inside Out, Cars, Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph. He loves to watch Daniel Tiger and Curious George.
He is a very good boy most of the time. He listens and helps.
He sits nicely during church. He loves nursery. He was very sad on Christmas Day at church when he didn't get to go to nursery.

  1. Stefani, I loved this! I don't know how in the world I missed it back in January but I did. But I am glad that I found it and got caught up on Scott. I loved the picture of him covered in flour. That is just priceless as are all of the other pictures here in your blog!!
