So remember a few posts ago when I said my wedding ring was a little tight but since there was only a month left I was just going to leave it on? Well, I've been talking with lots of friends and they all got me so paranoid about the hospital having to cut my ring off that I gave in to taking it off. But when I finally decided to take it off, Monday, my hands were so fat and swollen I couldn't get it off. I soaked my hand in freezing ice cold water and lathered my finger in Vaseline. It finally came off after about half an hour of pulling as hard as I could. It kept getting stuck at my knuckle. When I finally got it off, my finger was so red the rest of the day from all the sliding and pulling. I have my ring on my pinky now instead. I look like I'm 16 so I don't want people to think I'm some teenager who got pregnant. I'm so happy and proud to be married! I don't want people to think I'm not and was irresponsible and got pregnant. Also, since my hands are fatter and a little swollen all my knuckles are so sore when I bend them especially in the morning. Thankfully as the day goes and I move them more they start to feel a little better but it never totally goes away.
The nursery is finally done - including the dresser!!! I bought the dresser at Goodwill back in May for $35. It was painted an ugly mustard yellow (I forgot to take a before picture). Collin took all the paint off before we went to Utah. When we got back, I fine sanded most of it. We then did 3 layers of stain and 3 layers of polyurethane. It looks SO good! We are extremely happy and proud of how it turned out. This dresser should and better last us a LONG time after all that work we put into it! We finished on Monday and then arranged the furniture in the room. Yesterday we hung all the pictures and it's now all ready! I now keep talking to my Little Boy telling him we are all ready for him and he can come anytime, preferably sooner rather than later. People keep asking us if we're ready. We're as ready as we can be! We have everything we need we think - but we have lots of gift cards that we are saving for when he's here and we know a little better with what things we need. The car seat base is in the car and ready to go! It's fun to see it in there and to think that soon there will be a little baby in a car seat in our car!!!
All sanded, waiting for stain
Finished product!!!
a HUGE thanks to Collin's dad, Scott, for enduring all of our phone calls asking for advice and help!
President Kimball said "It would be a fine thing if … parents would have in every bedroom in their house a picture of the temple so [their children] from the time [they are] infant[s] could look at the picture every day [until] it becomes a part of [their lives]. When [they reach] the age that [they need] to make [the] very important decision [concerning going to the temple], it will have already been made."
That's why we have the Nauvoo Temple above the crib.
The swing will be downstairs and the bouncer will roam the house, at least that's the plan. We'll see how it ends up happening. Thanks to Collin's dad for 2 of the airplane pictures. Collin took the highest one at an Air Show at Hill Air Force Base.
Another thanks to Scott for that big picture and the model airplane on the dresser. He made that for Collin when he was younger. We'll have pictures of each of the Grandparents and us with our baby on his blessing day in the collage frame.
39 Weeks!
That dresser looks fantastic! And I totally understand the ring thing...It was starting to feel tight on me at about 31-32 weeks and I kept having to take it off, so I just put it on a necklace so I wouldn't lose it. And then I have like a $5 bigger size ring on my ring finger right now...just so it doesn't feel naked, and there's something there for people to look for haha. So don't feel too bad--it happens, and it's better than having to cut it off!
ReplyDeleteHope you're doing so well, and that your little boy comes soon! :)
You look absolutely FABULOUS!! I love the dresser too! How fun!
