Ward 5K

At the end of May our ward had a 5K/1 mile fun run or walk. We showed up not knowing which one we were going to do but I was leaning towards the 1 mile and were obviously going to walk instead of run. We go on walks frequently, but I just was not sure about a 5K. Well we decided to do the 5K and if we (more like I) needed to turn around earlier and not finish it then we'd just do that. When it started and we saw the half mile mark we were saying to each other how short that was and that a 5K should be easy! It's probably what we normally do anyway. Even when we got to the halfway point for the 5K we were thinking it wasn't bad. There was a set of sister missionaries there with some cold water that was SO good! The last half was definitely a lot harder, especially the last 1/2 mile, but we finished it in a little over an hour! The path we went on was BEAUTIFUL! It's a paved bike path that runs through all of Davenport. We'd never been there before but decided we needed to go there again! This was our first 5K individually and as a family. It was a lot of fun. The weather was beautiful!!! It was overcast and pretty cool for the most part. It wasn't until the last about 15 min that the sun came out and started warming up. We had a good turnout from our ward! It was fun watching the kids run and try to win. Afterwards there was a small breakfast with muffins and fruit for everyone! We had a great time and it felt so good to know we could at least walk a 5K and was pretty close to what we do normally anyway.

I think Collin said it was cotton on the sides of the path but it looked like snow!
