Family Update

Well I have not updated for over a month so it's about time, especially since our little man Scotty is 4 months old now. Collin had 2 weeks off of school for Christmas Break. We had fun spending time together as a family. We mostly relaxed at home but also ran errands and went to the temple. We ran into other ward members at the temple and the mom volunteered to watch Scott so we could do Sealings together. It was so nice being in there with Collin, but also stressful. The whole time we were both worried about how Scott would do - which we found out he cried for awhile and then just fell asleep. He slept the two hours going to the temple as well as coming home. We love going to the temple and are grateful for our habit and desire to go monthly.
We had a great Christmas. We Skyped with the Cragun family during their Christmas Party Christmas Eve. It was fun watching all the nieces and nephews open their presents from the grandparents. Then we went to a ward members house for food and games and enjoyed our time there. Christmas morning was fun with a little baby. He opened his presents with help from us. He got clothes, books, and a few toys. We also got a new TV to replace our monstrous one, as well as some cheap Black Friday movies. We then Skyped with the Barker Family later that day. New Years Eve we went to another ward members house just down the street from us for Chinese Food and games. Then New Years Day we played volleyball at the church with friends.
Life's been pretty quiet since then. Scotty is getting so big. We think he's huge but he's only in the 20% for height and 30% for weight. Here's a few quick updates on him.

- He can now sit up for about 30 seconds before toppling over. It's so fun to see him wobble but still maintain his balance for awhile.
- Forget snuggling up to us, he likes to look all around and his favorite positions are sitting or standing on our laps.
- He is getting really good at controlling his hand movements and now will reach for and play with toys.
- He's figuring out that he can control his face and will make really funny faces. Our favorite is when he kind of makes a little duck face by puckering his lips out and having his mouth partly open. He also sticks his tongue out a lot now.
- He absolutely loves when we take his clothes off in the evenings to take a bath. EVERY night he laughs and thinks it's the funniest thing.
- He was taking baths in a little plastic bathtub but is too big for that now. The past few nights we've had him in the regular tub and it's like bath time is 50 times better now. He seriously cannot stop kicking and splashing the whole time he's in there. Last night it felt like I was taking a shower because of all his splashes.
- He has discovered his feet and anytime he is able to he holds onto them. I think it's so cute!
- He's in a "stranger danger" kind of phase right now. He only lets other people hold him for a few minutes tops. Even sometimes when they talk to and smile at him he'll start crying.
- He was taking great naps, but for some reason for about the past week they haven't been very good. He'll sleep for maybe 45 minutes and then wake up and will fight us for about another 45 minutes before going back to sleep. Hopefully that ends VERY soon.
- He loves giving Mom and Dad big slobbery kisses.
- He does this thing with his legs where he'll bring them all the way up in the air, perpendicular to the floor then slam them back onto the ground. Whenever he's playing on the floor you will hear a constant banging on the ground because of it.

Over half of those are his!

Opening his present with a little help from Dad

Scotty and all his presents from Grandparents, Mom and Dad, and Santa

Out with the old

In with the New, but we need to get a new stand for it. That's my nightstand from our bedroom...

The best thing about our smaller TV is now we can have a sitting room!!!

Here's the best we could get of his "duck face"

We mostly take pictures from the side otherwise he gets distracted and will just stare at the camera

I'm pretty sure it must taste better to have as many fingers as possible in your mouth.

Here's our sitting boy!!!

Right now feet are the best toys

  1. Wow, that was a ginormous TV! Looks like it was totally worth the switch to have more space in that room! I love all of these pictures! Scott is so adorable :)
